Without a doubt, the world is changing rapidly! Digital technology enables the pace of change to be faster and faster.
Because of that, workforce training is essential to succeed in today’s modern and continuously changing economy. Even I realized at one point that my skills did not match demand in the labor market, so I went back to college at Parkland College to get in-demand tech skills.
Parkland College has created a new Workforce Training division that includes Adult English language instruction and Support for Workforce Training (parkland.edu/workforce). These programs help students improve their skills, find financial incentives for completing short-term retraining, and allow individuals to earn while they learn with hands-on experience.
Parkland also invites businesses that need workers to partner with them to help them meet their growing needs through apprenticeship programs. The Parkland Workforce Collaborative (parkland.edu/pwc) is a free monthly forum for local businesses, educators, and development organizations to share solutions that improve the local workforce in Champaign-Urbana.
